 Another week, another dip in mortgage rates

 Federal Reserve said long –term mortgage rates would not yet start winding down it bond buying program, but unfortunately it fell again this week.

 According to Freddie Mac 30-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 4.32 percent in the week ending Sept. 26, down from 4.50 percent last week. In the past years, 30-year rates were averaging 3.40 percent.

Unfortunately,report said that a 15-year fix fell to 3.37 percent, from 3.54 percent and that 1 year adjustable-rate mortgages averaged 2.63 percent this week, down from 2.65 percent.

According to a separate report last Thursday from the National Association of Realtors, cited rising mortgage rates and strict lending standards for a small decline in pending sales of existing homes in August.

Presently, the number of contracts signed was down 1.6 percent from July, though pending sales were still up 5.8 percent from August 2012.
